  • Note: Prior to emigration he owned 2 Morgen of land in Toepferdamm near Zeyersvorderkampen. Left for Russia on 19 Aug 1795. He migrated from Prussia to Russia in 1795 (P. Rempel, p. 48). He is listed in the 1797 Chortitza Colony Census, but not in a specific village (P. Rempel, p. 52). In the 1801 Chortitza Colony Census he is listed at Schoenhorst #39. In the 1814 Chortitza Colony Heads of Households List he is listed at Schoenhorst #31. In the Oct 1816 Census he is listed at Schoenhorst #34. From the October 1802 until the October 1816 Chortitza Colony censuses, a foster child named Elisabeth Braun (#197313) is listed in his household. Schapansky, Henry. Neuendorf, The Old Colony Russia; The First Settlers suggests an alternate birth date of 15 Dec 1759 and alternate date of death as 22 Oct 1835.
