Note: In the 1899 Ignatyevo Colony Census he is listed at Nikolayevka #46, where it says that he had previously been registered in Rosenthal, Chortitza Colony. Aberdeen says he was born 23 Dec 1869. The one sad fact was that Mr. Kornelius Sawatsky, Johann's father, was absent. He and two associates had left for the Kuban and had not returned nor been heard from. Four months later, Mrs. Sawatsky received a letter advising that he had passed away in December from typhus in the Kuban." Jan 1920.
Note: Kornelius died at age 48 of typhus.
