    birth date was 3 Mar 1838. According to Peter Penner, he settled in Orloff, village #6 in Sagradovka in 1873. He was a stern patriarch, but also a man of impressive artistic and inventive talents. According to a letter in the Menn. Rundschau by his son Dietrich, he died at age 85. This letter also mentions cousins Klaas and Wilhelm Wiebe who immigrated to Minnesota.
